About the Programs

Music for Preschoolers:

Keep checking our website for frequent updates about scheduled classes – we will fill the classes on a first-come, first served basis, so if there is a lot of demand for “Combined Age” classes for example, there will be more of those offered than Age 1 through 4. Current classes are for ages 1 through 4 and ”Combined Age”, which means if you have two children (ages 5 and under) they can both come to the same class!

Age 1, 2, 3 and 4:

Each class is 45 minutes; one class a week. We follow the school-year; 10-12 week terms at a time, and some summer sessions as well.

The parent stays with the student and participates in the class. The kids play rhythm instruments, dance, march around, learn hand games (such as Itsy Bitsy Spider) and play with many more props (animal flashlights!) as they sing familiar songs and learn some new ones. There is a little music theory, ear training, and technique in each lesson. Some songs stay the same throughout the term, because as we all know, children love learning through repetition. It gives them a chance to feel they “got it right!” And everyone has a chance to say “Hello” and “Goodbye” during our theme song.

 Combined Age:

We are excited to offer this type of class because as you well know there are not many other activities available mixed-age families together! Each class is a little different, as the instructor tailors the music to match each particular group, but the music is just as fun!

What differences would my child encounter in the combined-age class versus a class with same-age kids?

The combined age doesn’t move through music as quickly as a same-age class, in consideration of the littlest kids. As you know from having and caring 2 children under 5 it’s a juggling act to entertain and meet the needs of kids of different ages. The older toddler (hopefully!) has become accustomed to this, and the younger ones learn quickly to try to keep up with their older sibling.

You’ll be relieved to not have to arrange for a babysitter!

Sign up soon: There is only enough time to run 3 classes in any given morning so we would still encourage you to sign up now. Look at our schedule and see which option is right for you. Soon we will offer afternoon classes on Saturday and Sunday, as we also have “Infant Massage & Lullaby” classes on weekend mornings.

If you find you need a different time than any you see listed, please email us with your desired time and we will endeavor to make it work. It only takes three students to make a new class, so tell your friends!
